Review:
I had very high expectations of The Lofts. Friends that have stayed there before have raved about it - the views, the service, the wonderful breakfast at Ille de Pain... Unfortunately it did not quite live up to these expectations.
There is a wonderful inviting feel to The Lofts and the location is superb. The rooms are very comfortable and homely and I loved that it is within walking distance of so many attractions, shops and restaurants. I found the service helpful and friendly, if somewhat formal. It was recommended that I ask for a lagoon-facing room and I was slightly disappointed that the view of the lagoon was at a distance in-between other buildings. I also found the room quite noisy - both from the shops downstairs in the same building and from cars outside (as the rooms are built over the parking area). I was also disappointed to learn that Ille de Pain was temporarily closed.
I do think my expectations were too high. Overall I did enjoy my stay and I think that The Lofts is fair value for money. However, if you are the kind of person (like me) who likes to sleep in, this may not be the right place for you.
